Optimistic Predictions for Daihatsu Next Year's Market will be Better
JAKARTA - PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) projects that the automotive market in 2021 will not recover significantly.
Marketing Director of PT ADM Amelia Tjandra said that from an economic point of view there would indeed be a better movement and it was hoped that it could spark public interest and purchasing power.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) estimates that in 2021 Indonesia's gross domestic product (GDP) is 5.1 better than global.
"Looking at a better projection, we are optimistic that the car market will be better than 2020, but it will not reach the level like 2019," Amel said at a Daihatsu press conference, Thursday, December 17, 2020, as quoted by Kompas.
He explained, at the end of 2020 Daihatsu predicts the wholesale car market could reach up to 530 thousand units.
Meanwhile, from the retail sales achievement, it is estimated that it will be higher than the number of wholesales, which reached 565 thousand to 570 thousand units. For 2021, with the positive sentiment of a better direction of economic movement and the IMF's GDP version estimate, Amel is optimistic that his achievement could be higher than today.
"We estimate that in 2021 the market can increase to 700 thousand units, although it has not reached the one million figure like 2019, but basically it is better, the smile graph can be seen," said Amel. Meanwhile, from the product side, Amel said that this year, the commercial segment is growing rapidly.
This also seems to be the same in 2021, although the passenger segment will also increase. "Next year's economic conditions will move better, spending more on the use of commercial cars will still be better, but passengers will also increase as the economy starts to expand," said Amel. "In terms of model, the cars of a million people in Indonesia are still MPV (multipurpose vehicle), this type is still a dream. But in terms of trends, SUVs (sport utility vehicles) also appear to be increasing from year to year. ”.
Chairman I of the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO) Jongkie D Sugiarto predicted that the car sales target in 2021 could be at 750 thousand units. "Now it is getting better, so the hope is like that," said Jongkie. The presence of vaccines and their influence on the car market Marketing & Customer Relations Division Head of PT Astra International Daihatsu Sales Operations (AI-DSO) Hendrayadi Lastiyoso said that the automotive industry in the future will be very dependent on vaccines which will be given to the Indonesian people.
"The development of the automotive industry in the coming years will be greatly influenced by vaccines, not only in Indonesia but globally," said Hendrayadi Lastiyoso during a virtual conference, Thursday, December 17, 2020, as quoted by Antara.
